Stands and mounts
Many Bridgit jobs need the phone in one place for hours: watching the dog, reading a letter from above, showing a dashboard on the wall. Here is where to put it and what holds it there, with sizes so you can check it fits.
For agents: the same list as JSON (each product lists the devices below that it fits) and as Markdown. Updated 2026-11-02. Prices are approximate.
Where to put it
Watching a pet or a room
The phone watches a sofa, bed, food bowl or a room while the owner is out.
- Put it at the animal's height or a little above, 1 to 3 m away, so the spot fills most of the picture.
- Keep it out of reach and out of direct sunlight; plug it in.
- A fixed view lets change detection skip frames where nothing moved, which keeps model calls cheap.
Watching a door or window
Packages at the door, who's at the gate, the car in the driveway.
- Press the camera close to the glass, or shade it, so the room's reflection doesn't fill the picture.
- Night views need outside light; a phone camera sees little in the dark through glass.
- Glass gets hot in sun: check the phone's temperature (GET /v1/phone/battery) on long sessions.
Reading from above
Letters, receipts, homework, labels and recipes read flat on a desk.
- Straight down gives the best text reading; a slight angle is fine for OCR, more distorts lines.
- Even light without glare: a desk lamp to the side, not above.
- A sheet of A4 or Letter needs about 35 cm of height for most phone cameras.
Kitchen or desk display
A tablet or phone that shows cards, timers, a checklist or a live panel, and listens for a wake word.
- Eye height when standing for a kitchen; a tilt back of 60 to 70 degrees for a desk.
- Away from the sink and stove; a case helps in a kitchen.
- Keep the screen on only when needed; Bridgit cards still arrive with the screen off.
Wall dashboard
An always-on tablet by the door or in the hall: weather, the day's plan, a help button.
- Plan the cable first: a mount with a gap for a right-angle USB-C plug, or a wall socket nearby.
- Turn on the tablet's battery protection so it can stay plugged in for months.
- Screen-on all day wears the screen; dim it or let it sleep between cards.
Bedside speaker and alarm
Wake words at night, a spoken morning brief, a sleep check-in.
- Put it within 2 m of the bed for wake words; the mic hears better pointed at the person.
- Face the camera away, or cover it, if the owner prefers.
- Night mode: Do Not Disturb with an exception for urgent Bridgit cards.
In the car
A spoken co-pilot: commute watches, reading out cards, finding parking.
- Keep the screen out of the driver's direct line of sight where the law requires it; speak, don't show.
- Heat: a phone on a sunny dashboard overheats quickly. Use a vent mount in summer.
On the table, ready to grab
Quick photos, scanning a QR code, a video call with the agent.
- A kickstand case is the lowest-effort stand: it's always there.
Fitting a stand to a phone
- Clamps and cradles list the phone widths they hold. Use the phone's width plus about 3 mm for a typical case (more for a rugged one), and check the depth limit too.
- Weight matters on gooseneck arms and suction mounts: tablets and big phones (over 230 g) droop on thin arms. Use a thicker arm or a tripod.
- Check the camera is clear: clamps that grip the top and bottom edges can cover a corner camera; side clamps are safer for top-left cameras.
- Tablets: stands list screen sizes (for example 4 to 13 inches). Wall mounts and holders for a single model only fit that model.
- Foldables: measure the folded width for a phone clamp; unfolded, treat it like a small tablet.
- Old phones swell: a phone with a bulging back shouldn't stay on a charger for days. Retire it.
